RAM Open MRI

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) uses magnets, radio waves and computers to create extremely detailed pictures or "images" of your internal organs and structures. It provides a wealth of diagnostic information more quickly and easily than previous tests. The Open MRI exam is designed to keep you comfortable with ample airflow and lighting. It is painless and the setting is spacious to help reduce anxiety.

We accept referrals from doctors for patients covered under most Private Insurance, Workers Compensation, Department of Assistive & Rehabilitative Services (DARS), Medicare, Medicaid, and self pay.

Please note: Each MRI exam is interpreted by a Radiologist. There is a separate fee charged by the Radiologist for the interpretation.

To schedule an Open MRI exam please call (956) 668-0060.

Preparing for the Exam:

An MRI exam takes about 35-45 minutes, depending on the injured area. No special preparations are needed. Eat and take any prescribed medication as usual (unless your doctor tells you otherwise).

Please advise your physician and/or MR technologist if you are pregnant or suspect that you may be, have a pacemaker, prosthesis, surgical clips, metal implants or any other metal objects in your body. Some implants, such as a pacemaker, may be affected by an MRI exam. Please remove all objects that may be affected or attracted by the powerful magnet such as watches, coins, keys, and credit cards. Avoid wearing eye makeup because metal flakes or slivers are found in some eye shadows.

Let the technologist know if you work around metal finishing or grinding equipment. It's important to keep the eye area free of any metallic particles. For more information please contact our office. You may also visit GE Health Care for additional information.

Results of your MRI exam:

After your exam is assessed, results will be discussed with you by your attending physician. If exam was ordered by your primary Doctor, he/ she will provide you with results. If you would like a copy of your MRI exam, please request it in writing from your attending or primary physician.
